Use what ya got.
What a crazy couple of weeks. Right now I'm working on two magazines with ten photo shoots in ten different cities between 'em.
Taking pictures of "creative" people is frustrating because the subjects can never just relax, step back and stop working angles. They have this idea of how they want to be seen, and it's so powerful to them that it supercedes any understanding of how they actually look. The subjects don't know or care about the theme of the story their photo will compliment. They're only interested in playing up the things they think are important. Those things may not be important to the audience; in fact, they may detract from the reader's experience, engendering a negative impression of the subject.
You can't record on a four-track and then tell an engineer to make your demo sound like a Flaming Lips album. And you can't force things into your image that are simply not there. The trick is to accept the character of what you've got to work with, come to terms with its limits and imperfections, and use it to your fullest advantage. These are things it took me a long time to learn, so I can't get too cranky with my photo subjects. But maybe when they get their copy of the magazine they'll understand that they look fucking retarded.

The Rebellion has been busy. We're cookin up some stuff for ya: new music, a TON of merch, and one o'them newfangled musical video-movies all the young'uns are talkin about. The Deli Of Life is now playing on a college radio station near you, so get out there and be a pest for The Rebellion.
I think that's what we need to call our street team: Rebellion Pests.
A nice fella from Rochester wrote in to ask whether Deli Of Life lyrics were available anywhere. Not yet, but soon, and there's a reason for that. Something is going to happen the first two weeks of June; after that I will post the lyrics for all six songs in this space.

Eschatone Records has created a suite of PureVolume pages for its artists. I'm really enjoying this site... it looks great and feature-wise they've covered all the angles. There's not much on our page yet, but I suppose you can check it out anyway.

Geek City!
Oh, boy!
Hey, look at this! Geek City! I only have the slightest grasp of the concepts these people are dealing with (if at all...), but this collider and the work going on there seem totally amazing! Alright, so I'm a geek. What do you want? Huh? You got a problem with that?
